Everyone needs to take some time for themselves from time to time, even busy moms. Here are some ways that you can pamper yourself and provide a boost in spirits.
Give Yourself a Manicure
A professional manicure may be out of your budget – but that doesn’t mean you can’t give yourself one. Nail polish is fairly inexpensive so buy yourself a few bottles in your favorite shade and give your fingernails a makeover. Just seeing those brightly painted nails is sure to make you feel happy. If you have a few more minutes to spare, go ahead and give yourself a pedicure too!
Go To The Movies
Many people view going to the movies as something for couples to do, but there is nothing wrong with going to the movies by yourself. In fact, it can be very relaxing to be able to see the movie that you want to see without having to debate it with a partner. So arrange for someone to watch the kids for a few hours and sneak off to the matinee to see the most romantic, cheesy comedy that they have playing right now. You deserve to indulge in happily ever after for a couple of hours!
Get a Haircut
Treating yourself to a new look is always a spirit booster. Take an afternoon off and enjoy a shampoo and cut. It can be a great way to unwind and rejuvenate your spirits.
Treat Yourself To a New Outfit
It doesn’t have to be an expensive outfit – you can pick something off the clearance rack. A bright new outfit that brings out your eyes and goes just right with your hair color can have you feeling like a whole new woman.
Light a Scented Candle
Select a scented candle in one of your favorite scents and indulge in a little aromatherapy. Pleasant odors can have a calming effect and evoke happy and cherished memories.
Order Takeout For Dinner
Had an overwhelming day at work? Feeling exhausted from taking care of the kids and house all day and don’t have the energy to cook dinner and then wash all of those dishes? Then don’t! It’s OK to give yourself a break by ordering takeout for dinner every now and then. Let someone else cook for you for a change – you deserve it!
Take a Nap
Take advantage of your kid’s nap time by laying down for a relaxing nap yourself. The laundry and dishes can wait, you deserve some much needed downtime just as much as the kids do!
Treat Yourself to That Candy Bar You’ve Been Craving
As mom’s we tend to put a lot of pressure on ourselves to quickly get our pre-baby figure back, but indulging in the occasional sweet won’t set you back that much and it can bring some much needed joy to your day. So go ahead and enjoy that candy bar or bowl of ice cream - every now and then won’t hurt!
